Rising Star to release Deadly Premonition in UK
Rising Star Games has announced it publish Marvelous Entertainment's Xbox 360-exclusive horror title Deadly Premonition in PAL territories this fall.
Although Rising Star has an agreement to bring Marvelous Entertainment's games to market in PAL territories, Deadly Premonition was absent from the publisher's Q4 line-up, which it announced at the beginning of June.
"Having seen how Deadly Premonition split reviewers' opinions in America, gamers are itching to get their hands on it to judge it for themselves," says Martin Defries, managing director at Rising Star Games.
"We have high hopes for what can only be described as the most distinctive survival horror game that has ever been released - it's going to be interesting to see how the game is received over here. It's a cult classic in the making."
To date Deadly Premonition has split reviewers down the middle.
Destructoid gave it a 10/10, saying: "Judged as a piece of entertainment, as a game that consistently surprises and amazes and leaves jaws hanging, I have no choice but to say that Deadly Premonition goes above and beyond. This game is so bad, it's not just become good. It's pretty close to perfect."
On the other end, IGN said it was "terrible" and gave it a 2/10: "Awful in nearly every way. The Twin Peaks meets Resident Evil with a dash of Grand Theft Auto formula sounds pretty great, but it was well beyond the capabilities of this development team. Terrible controls. Terrible pacing. Terrible sound effects. Terrible visuals. Maybe you can convince yourself that these things don't matter as you work through this surreal and quirky storyline. The rest of us will be off playing better videogames."
Over on Metacritic, though, the average user rating is 8.4 with a critic rating of 6.6.
Developed by Access Games, Deadly Premonition is an open-world game set in Greenvale, a secluded rural town in North West America.
Playing as FBI Special Agent Francis York, gamers are charged with investigating the ritualistic murder of a local girl.
Deadly Premonition will run you £24.99, and you can pre-order it on Amazon UK for £17.99.
