Ridge Racer Driftopia now available on Steam Early Access, is free to play

Namco launched Ridge Racer Driftopia on Steam today, through Early Access. The current version of the game has no simultaneous multiplayer support and based largely on time trials. The item store is already up and running in the beta and people on the Steam forums are already up in arms over what they perceive as extremely aggressive monetisation. Nonetheless, the game is free and only 850mb, so give it a try here if you fancy it.

The game boasts more than 20 cars and 10 tracks right now, although I imagine some of those will be tied behind the game's paywall. Check out the minimum system requirements below, but don't worry, the game doesn't seem too demanding on that front.

Processor: Dual core Athlon x2 2.6GHz or Intel Equivalent
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: 512 MB ​​RAM, ATI Radeon 4850 or higher, - NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT or higher
