Riccitiello: EA's not in the used game business
It was revealed during EA's financial call to investors this evening that over 70 percent of consumers who purchase titles from the company took advantage of the free DLC vouchers included in the package.
CEO John Riccitiello said during the call that there was a small increase of purchases for the content, but failed to elaborate on whether the company could confirm if the increase was do to used games sales, as he said that was not a "business that we were in".
However, EA believes that once its Online Pass service for EA Sports matures, it will be able to better determine how many used sales come into play, as users who do not purchase new will be hit with Project Ten Dollar in order to get a pass.
Other EA Sports games expected to feature Online Pass include the new Fight Night in the works, NCAA Football, MMA, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, Madden NFL, and NHL.
So far, Online Pass is limited to sports titles, but it probably won't be long before other titles require something similar as well.
