Returnal trailer shows a shifting planetary landscape
This new trailer focuses on the shifting landscape of the planet Atropos.
Housemarque's PS5-exclusive Returnal has a new trailer, showing off the planet Atropos.
In it, you get a look at overgrown ruins, a derelict citadel, and the crimson wastes. Basically, it provides a host look at the game's procedural world.
In the third-person, rouge-like shooter, you have crash-landed on a shape-shifting world. As Selene, you must search through the barren landscape of an ancient civilization for escape. Fighting for survival, you will be defeated and forced to restart your journey every time Selene dies.
The procedural world you will be exploring is hostile to human life and changes every time you die. You will need to manage equipment and resources carefully, because every time you die, you restart from the beginning. Luckily you will be able to scavenge alien technology for upgrades to enhance your abilities in future cycles.
You will need to manage equipment and resources carefully, and try to piece together fragments of Selene’s memories as you seek out answers while forging a "personal connection" with the planet.
Originally set for release in March, the game is coming to PS5 on April 30.
