The Resident Evil Netflix series stars the Wesker kids
The setup for Netflix's Resident Evil show may be a bit unusual.
Netflix has today revealed the synopsis for its upcoming live-action Resident Evil series. In a Tweet, Netflix shared the basic premise of the show alongside a picture of the first episode's script.
"When the Wesker kids move to New Raccoon City, the secrets they uncover might just be the end of everything," it reads.
According to further details revealed by IGN, the show's events unfold across two timelines.
The first deals with teenage sisters Jade and Billie Wesker, who are focred to move to New Raccoon City. The second timeline picks up over a decade later, as Jade Wesker struggles to survive in a T-virus-infected world.
"In the first timeline, fourteen-year-old sisters Jade and Billie Wesker are moved to New Raccoon City. A manufactured, corporate town, forced on them right as adolescence is in full swing. But the more time they spend there, the more they come to realize that the town is more than it seems and their father may be concealing dark secrets. Secrets that could destroy the world," it reads.
"Cut to the second timeline, well over a decade into the future: there are less than fifteen million people left on Earth. And more than six billion monsters -- people and animals infected with the T-virus. Jade, now thirty, struggles to survive in this New World, while the secrets from her past - about her sister, her father, and herself - continue to haunt her."
The live-action series will be made up of eight episodes, with a one-hour runtime each. Supernatural's Andrew Dabb is the showrunner, with Bronwen Hughes set to direct the first two episodes.
Netflix has yet to announce when the show will air, or reveal any casting details.
