Resident Evil 7 has reached Capcom's target of 4 million units shipped

Resident Evil 7 has hit its 4 million sales target according to a notice from Capcom.

Released January 24 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, it was hoped Resident Evil 7 would hit its 4 million sales target by the end of Capcom's fiscal year on March 31, 2017. The company's current fiscal year started in April 1.

According to the official Resident Evil 7 UK website, the game has now shipped over the expected units sales. The last reported figures for the game were 3.5 million units shipped, with 2 million more units expected to ship by March 2018.

Within three days of release, Capcom said 3 million units shipped, and two week later another 500,000 were reported as shipped.

In May, Capcom stated in a post-earnings call to investors it wants Resident Evil 7 lifetime sales figures to hit 10 million units.

Resident Evil 7's current shipped figures makes it the sixth best-selling title in the franchise behind Resident Evil 2 (thanks, NeoGAF).
