Resident Evil 7 is coming to Nintendo Switch in the form of the Cloud Version
Resident Evil 7 is sort of coming to Nintendo Switch.
The game most of us played on PC, and PS4 last year is not technically getting a Nintendo Switch port. Instead, Capcom is releasing what it's calling Resident Evil 7: Cloud Version.
As you may have guessed from the name, this is a streamed game, similar to what you'd get out of PlayStation Now. The Cloud Version comes at a small 45MB download, but obviously requires a constant internet connection to play.
Capcom announced this new, Japan-only version for Switch late last week, and confirmed that it includes all of the game's DLC. It's out May 24, only in Japan.
According to Nintendo Everything, there's also a trial version that gets you 15 minutes of gameplay. After that, you can pay ¥2,000 (~$18) to play more.
Unfortunately, now that the game has a page on the Japense eShop, it's been confirmed that it does not support English.
This is actually not the first demonstration of streaming tech on the Switch. Phantasy Star Online 2 is playable on the console in the same way.
