The Resident Evil 2 remaster has finally been revealed

We finally know what the long-awaited Resident Evil 2 remake looks like, thanks to first gameplay footage.

The first footage was shown today during Sony's E3 presentation today, where we got to see the game running on PS4. There's plenty of cutscenes in trailer (which opens from a rat's perspective) and no real 'gameplay' footage, but it shows that development has progressed nicely on the title.

Resident Evil 2 Remaster platforms:

The game will come to Xbox One and PC too, according to the press release we have received.

It looks pretty great, and will change a few things from the original game. From the press release: "Resident Evil 2 offers a fresh take on the classic survival horror saga with breathtakingly realistic visuals, heart-poundingly immersive audio, a new over-the-shoulder camera, and modernized controls on top of gameplay modes from the original game." We're excited to revisit Leon and Claire, even if their original voice actors have not returned for this one.

The remake was announced way back in 2015, and we've been waiting for news ever since. Resident Evil 2 first released in 1998, and remains beloved to this day.

The game is due for release on January 25, 2019.
