Resident Evil 2 Ghost Survivors DLC - New Characters and Mercenaries Mode in Resident Evil 2

Back before Resident Evil 2 released, we knew that there would be free DLC content coming to the game, and it's available to download for everyone right now. In this Resident Evil 2 Ghost Survivors guide, we'll be walking you through everything you need to know going into the three DLC chapters, including how to tackle each campaign, and more.

But if you need help with any content in the base version of Capcom's remake, you'll want to head over to our Resident Evil 2 walkthrough. Here you can find a full beginner's guide to making it through the nightmare in Raccoon City, and much more.

Resident Evil 2 Ghost Survivors

Now that the Ghost Survivors DLC is live in Resident Evil 2, we have three new characters to play as. Simply boot up your platform, download the latest (and relatively small) update for the game, and you're ready to go. At the main menu of Resident Evil 2 select 'Extra Mode,' and you'll have access to the three DLC chapters.

As you can see in the menu image above, there are difficulty options for the new campaign chapters. You can either play on the standard difficulty for all three chapters (two star difficulty for Runaway, three stars for No Time to Mourn, and four for Forgotten Soldier), or you can opt for Training difficulty. This option gives you a smoother ride, with less powerful enemies to face, and more health. So if it's your first time going into these DLC chapters, we'd recommend kicking things off on Training.

Within the Ghost Survivors DLC, there's 10 total statues of the elusive Mr. Raccoon for you to collect. For a guide on where to find them all, head over to our Resident Evil 2 Ghost Survivors Raccoon statues guide.

Resident Evil 2 Mercenaries Mode

When Capcom originally revealed the Ghost Survivors DLC for Resident Evil 2, there was a new mode announced for the game. It sounded a lot like the 'Extreme Battle' mode that the DualShock edition of the original game shipped with in 1998, where enemies were randomized and you had to collect points as you played through the mode.

As of right now, it doesn't look like the Ghost Survivors DLC for Resident Evil 2 has included this new mode. We'll make sure to keep scouring the game, and if we find the new mode, we'll update this guide straight away.
