Report - Sony issued subpoena by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman

Sony has been subpoenaed by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman over the PSN data breaches, according to a report on Bloomberg.

According to a person familiar with the probe, the subpoena comes in the wake of Sony's recent company statement that it was attacked by hackers who gained access to over
23,400 credit and debit card numbers as as well as account information pertaining to around 24.6 million SOE customers and 77 million customers over all for the entire Sony network .

Schneiderman is interested in what Sony told customers regarding the security of its networks, as part of a consumer protection inquiry.

Lauren Passalacqua, a spokeswoman for Schneiderman, declined comment on the subpoena.

Yesterday, Sony announced via its response to a US Congressional Hearing that during the investigation into the system hack, a file called Anonymous was found with the phrase "We are Legion" attached to it.

Hacker group Anonymous has denied it had anything to do with the theft of personal information stores on the Sony network.
