EA's Euro 2012 effort to be FIFA 12 add-on - first shots
EA's announced, as expected, its Euro 2012 effort, confirming it will be an expansion to FIFA 12 rather than a full game compared to previous Euro or World Cup games.
It'll be available on April 24 on PS3, 360 and PC for £15.99, 1,800 MS Points or 2,500 FIFA points on PC.
MCV first reported the news this morning.
"This game will tap into the passion fans have for their national teams by capturing all of the national rivalries in-game, and re-creating all the emotion of the UEFA Euro 2012," said producer Sebastian Enrique.
"We are utilizing the best-playing FIFA videogame ever, driving live, digital content created from the biggest headlines from the tournament into the game, and offering an exclusive new mode that will challenge gamers in unique and compelling ways.”
EA Sports UEFA Euro 2012 will feature all 53 UEFA national teams, as well as the eight stadiums that will form the tournament in Ukraine and Poland this summer.
Besides playing the tournament, Expedition Mode will allow players to create and manage their own national team.
Virtual Pro will also make a return, as will the Real-world themed challenges and online multiplayer.
Since 1998 with the World Cup in France, EA has provided licensed games on football tournaments, all of which have been retail games.
MCV reported earlier that four FIFA titles - the already-released FIFA 12, the just-released FIFA Street and the expected FIFA 13 alongside Euro - in a year may be a bit much for EA.
The last Euro title, Euro 2008 in Switzerland and Austria, charted at number eight in the UK charts.
Euro 2012 takes place between June 8 and july 1 in Poland and Ukraine.
