Report - Dead or Alive: Dimensions Nordic release cancelled

Swedish, Danish and Norwegian distributor Bergsala is reported to have pulled out of releasing Dead or Alive: Dimensions after concerns the game might violate child pornography laws.

Voodoo Extreme pieced together the tale, which began with an attempt to use the game to challenge Sweden's laws against the erotic depiction of under eighteens.

Apparently seeking to demonstrate that the laws are inconsistently applied, a member of popular forum Flashback raised the issue of Dead or Alive: Dimensions' Showcase mode.

When opponents contacted police about the game, Bergsala is said to have decided to cancel its release, despite a reported ruling by police that the content in question did not constitute pornography.

Those who pre-ordered have reported receiving contact from retailers advising of the game's cancellation.

Showcase allows users to take "photos" of underwear and swimsuit clad characters, including three listed in the game's fiction as being under eighteen - Kasumi, Kokoro and Ayane.

Sweden has strict regulation against the erotic depiction of children under eighteen, which have become controversial following several high profile prosecutions.
