Renowned Explorers expansion offers two expeditions, new major systems

More to do and new ways to do it. That's the ticket.

First expansion for Renowned Explorers launching this week

Renowned Explorers: International Explorers is a strategic exploration game, so it's quite fitting that its first expansion is called More to Explore.

Although the core content consists of two new expeditions the premium add-on also refreshes the game's systems so the whole package gets a bit of polish up.

The Andean Adventure is a three star expedition into ancient Incan mountain territory, offering valuable treasure in return for helping various cities rebel against the empire. The Lost Island is an end-game expedition during which the secrets of the Anti-Explorers will finally be revealed - but it's a challenging journey.

The first major new system adds a campfire to each expedition. While gathered around the fire, crew members will tell stories at the player's direction, and have "the ability to transform both your strategy and your crew". The system plays out like a card game, and you can assemble different "decks" by hiring different crew member combinations.

The second new system allows players to choose an additional bonus they on treasures, in addition to the regular boost. The new extra bonuses are drawn randomly from a pool, and again inject a new strategic element to your campaign.

Renowned Explorers: International Society is the second release from Abbey Games, and has been updated regularly since release in September last year. The small indie's first project was a god game called Reus, which sold 800,00 copies.
