Renegade Kid delays Treasurenauts 3DS release into Q1 2014

Treasurenauts, the latest from Renegade Kid, will not make its planned December 2013 release, but will instead land on 3DS during Q1 2014.

Speaking on the firm's developer blog, studio co-founder and game director Jools Watsham issued the following statement:

"Progress on Treasurenauts is going very well. We're happy with the game. We have received tremendous positive support from you and we're excited to get the game into your hands," he said,

"However, it saddens me to announce that Treasurenauts will not be released in 2013. Don't worry, there's nothing wrong. The game means a lot to us, and we want to do it right. We need more time to make it the game we want it to be. We're aiming for a Q1 2014 release, and will have information on a more accurate date soon.

"Sorry for the delay, but as an independent developer we rely on the success and revenue generated from each of our self-published games. More time = better game = better sales (hopefully)."

Treasurenauts sees up to two players platforming their way through pixelated worlds collecting shiny treasure and trinkets.

The firm's Mutant Mudds Deluxe will release on PS3 and PS Vita with cross-buy December 17.

Mutant Mudds 2 is on hold until Treasurenauts is completed, and more news on Cult County - a survival horror game - will be revealed sometime during 2014.
