Reminder - Halo Wars: Definitive Edition early access is open for those who pre-orders the sequel's Ultimate Edition
Halo Wars mega-fans can rediscover the original RTS from today.
Halo Wars: Definitive Edition early access has opened for those who pre-ordered Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition.
Microsoft said it's mailing out Halo Wars: Definitive Edition access codes in waves, so if yours hasn't turned up yet and you've done a thorough inbox and spam filter check, hang tight for a few days. If you ordered through a retailer, check in with them.
Once you have the code you can redeem it on Xbox.com to start downloading Halo Wars: Definitive Edition on PC or Xbox One. It's a Play Anywhere title, so why not do both? It has cross-save, too.
It's a neat little promo for Halo Wars 2, which launches in February and is also a Play Anywhere title. I haven't been able to find the Definitive Edition's general release date, assuming it has one and this isn't a Modern Warfare Remastered hostage situation.
Halo Wars: Definitive Edition is an updated version of the 2009 Xbox 360 RTS, boasting improved visuals and audio, all DLC, new achievements and 4K support on PC.
