Red Dead Redemption 2 will be full of "incredible emotional depth," according to the boss of publisher Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick.

Speaking at the MKM Parnters event this week, Zelnick said of the western sequel: "You can expect there to be great story elements and great gameplay elements," according to GameSpot.

Red Dead Redemption 2's trailer was revealed in October to an eager gaming community ready for a sequel to the open world classic. "Anticipation is enormous," said Zelnick.

He also added why Take-Two is willing to support a western-themed game, a genre barely suppported in the medium.

"The conventional wisdom was of course that a western wouldn't work," he said of the first Red Dead Redemption.

"We took a different point of view, which is that very occasionally westerns capture the imagination of the public. When we launched Red Dead, it did. And those times were right for that. And I think the times are right for a big, sprawling, optimistic view of America again. And that's not meant to be cute."

Red Dead Redemption is currently expected in fall 2017 on Xbox One and PS4.
