Seth from Red Dead Redemption was cut from Red Dead Online

Seth Briars, a major character in the original Red Dead Redemption, was recently discovered in the files for Red Dead Online - however, he's been there for two years and was likely cut right after launch.

The discovery was made by VideoTech on Twitter, who regularly writes for popular Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto site RockstarINTEL. You can check out the tweet below, which is the first of a string of tweets about Seth appearing in the files for Red Dead Online.

"Seth was added to Red Dead Online," the tweet reads. "However, remains cut/or reserved for future content. This appears to the character from the first Red Dead Redemption."

However, VideoTech quickly clarified that this isn't necessarily a new find - Seth has been in the Red Dead Online files ever since the game launched, and was likely cut ages ago for unknown reasons.

"A quick update on Seth," VideoTech wrote. "Upon looking in OpenIV, Seth was introduced into Red Dead Online with 'mp001'. It was the first DLC pack when Red Dead Online initially released in 2018. Seth was most likely cut from Red Dead Online."

Apparently Seth also had 47 dialogue lines, most of which are tied to a specific mission surrounding him, although said mission - unless it has been reserved for a future launch - could potentially never be patched in. VideoTech mentions Halloween, but it's difficult to tell given that he's been in the files for two years and his addition has yet to actually materialize.

VideoTech also specified in a subsequent tweet that other characters have been cut from the game before, such as Grance Landing, a Camp Cook, and more.

In related news, Red Dead Online recently received a significant update adding the Naturalist role to the game. However, it's been having some hiccups ever since, with an array of old bugs reappearing in force.
