PWC to update GAME Ireland sit-in protesters today
PWC will provide an update to protesters having sit-ins oat at GAME's former stores in the Republic of Ireland regarding redundancy pay, according to Irish broadcaster RTE.
It was reported yesterday that several stores in the south were holding sit-ins following news the administrator wouldn't provide redundancy pay alongside normal pay for March. PWC said instead to look towards the state for redundancy pay.
Some of the stores protesting include Monaghan, Cork and Dublin.
It comes after the retailer closed all of its stores in the Republic at the loss of 121 jobs as it entered administration, as well as closing all but five stores in the North. The only stores open across the border are two in Belfast, Derry, Newtownards and Craigavon.
Cork deputy store manager Barry Lynch, whose staff had as little as two months to as much as nine years in the store, told RTE the protesters wouldn't let GAME take stock or strip the store down until the employees were fairly treated.
