PUBG PC patch quietly adds a new custom game mode: War
If you frequent the custom modes server browser in PUBG, you'll have no doubt noticed the most recent addition, War mode.
War is not available in the regular selection in PUBG just yet, but those who have the ability to create custom servers will see it. Through that menu, admins can check and customise the mode's various parameters.
Anyone can join a War server, of course, provided any of them are available. War is a bit of misnomer, though, as it's basically team deathmatch. This is what it was called back when Battlegrounds was a mod in ARMA, so there's a lineage to the name.
Unlike traditional PUBG modes, War limits the playable area to one small section of the map, with no moving circles. Think of it like playing a TDM version of a big Battlefield map. In both cases, everyone is confined to the same spot.
All players drop out with a predetermined, random loadout, in another major change from what PUBG typically offers. Finally, War allows you to respawn back in after you die. The goal is to be the first team to reach the target score.
Watch the video below from YouTube user Norovnog to see how it all works.
If recent history is anything to go by, the mode will likely be available for all later, either as part of a limited event mode, or as a delectable option alongside regular PUBG.
Thanks, PCGamesN.
