PUBG: 3 videos that show just how much of a game changer vaulting can be
Vaulting and climbing animations in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds have been a long time time coming, and you can already see how much different they're going to make gameplay.
The new animations are a big part of patch 1.0, currently available on the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds test servers.
There are other interesting changes in there, too, such as the ballistics overhaul, and the improved vehicle mechanics but nothing will convey the added utility vaulting and climbing animations bring to gameplay until you watch players actually use it. Which is what we have today.
Not one, but three different encounter types PUBG players are all too familiar with that all get turned on their head. Breaching well-defended buildings and reaching new vantage points is the name of the game.
The first video from TheRealDeathZoner shows the player getting through one of those high, small square windows some of the houses have. It doesn't look like you should be able to fit an entire body through it, but it does work. It's not clear if this behaviour is intended, seeing as the feature is still in testing, but any PUBG player knows that you take any advantage you can get.
This next video demonstrates how you can outflank one of the deadliest opponents in PUBG: the bathroom camper. Most bathrooms in the game have high windows and are generally safe from the outside world, with the door being the only entry point, thus easy to anticipate. The video, from streamer Mista, offers a solution.
But breaching building isn't the only thing you can do with the new tech, the simple act of climbing onto objects higher up opens up firefight opportunities for you. The video below from Cody B will get you to reconsider engagements at this style of hangars.
It wouldn't be a PUBG update without some glitches or intended problems, and this video from Reddit user FredSands proves it. Here, you can see the vaulting animation play out and ends up ignoring a wall.
Let's hope this doesn't mean we'll be phasing through walls in PUBG.

1.0 will be in testing for another day during this first phase.
