PUBG PC test patch adds new anti-cheat measure, more than one pre-match starting location

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has a new test patch on PC that adds a new way to detect cheats, and improve the lobby performance.

The patch is live now on PUBG test servers, though developer PUBG Corp did not say how long it plans to keep it there. As is typical with test patches, the changes follow on live servers provided it all works well.

This week's patch patch brings two changes. The first comes in the form of a new anti-cheat measure. Testing of this security layer is crucial because PUBG Corp says it may cause compatibility issues with some PCs.

The developer did not give any other details about this new security, but it could be reliant on a third-party anti-cheat provider.

The other highlight has to do with improving server and client performance. Following on from the change made in a previous patch that limited the view distance when dropping out of the plane, the update aims to do the same in the pre-match lobby.

Previously, as you'll no doubt have noticed, all players spawned in the same area. This caused a lot of stutter, long load times, and massive frame-rate drops. The new update adds several spawn locations to prevent this from happening. Unfortunately, it also removed the weapons from the Erangel lobby.
