PS5 game release dates quietly removed from CES 2021 trailer
After revealing a suite of release dates for a number of third-party PS5 exclusives during its CES 2021 keynote, Sony has quietly removed the info from its uploaded trailer.
Earlier this week, Sony’s CES conference introduced us to some unexpected information thanks to a sizzle reel that included footage from a number of upcoming PS5 games with release dates tacked onto the end of the trailer.
Amongst the information listed, we saw dates for Capcom's Pragmata (pushed back to 2023), Square Enix’s Project Athia (listed as January 2022), cat-based indie game, Stray (October 2021), Kena: Bridge of Spirits (March 2021), Solar Ash (June 2021), Little Devil Inside (July 2021) and Ghostwire Tokyo (October 2021). Ratchet & Clank: Rift and Horizon Forbidden West both got vague '2021' listings, too.
This information was seemingly shared prematurely, though, because since the original sizzle reel aired at CES, we've seen Sony quietly remove the small print from the original trailer that was uploaded.
Between the removal of the small print and the almost impossibly small amount of fanfare Sony revealed this quite big info with, it's now fairly clear that we weren't supposed to know these dates yet.
Are the dates accurate, or simply goals that PlayStation and the associated developers are working towards? We won't know until we get some official updates from Sony via their formal channels.
For now, it's probably best not to put too much stock into the dates we saw listed on the original trailer – it may only lead to disappointment.
