The new update, codenamed Kenshin, will be available to members of the PS4's beta program today, and will hopefully roll out for everyone else soon.

The full list of changes announced so far are listed on the PlayStation Blog, but some of the highlights include:

  • An increase in online storage capacity for PS Plus subscribers, from 1GB to 10GB
  • YouTube Live functionality, allowing you to stream your gameplay to YouTube
  • An 'Events' hub, which tracks upcoming events in the games you're playing, such as double XP weekends
  • 'Communities', which allow you to connect with like-minded gamers online
  • The ability to share videos to Twitter
  • An option to send friends requests to watch them play

It's a substantial update - that increase in online storage is going to be a big deal for a lot of players, as will YouTube Live. Hopefully we'll know when we'll be able to download it soon.
