Sony can't keep up with demand for the PS4 in Europe
PS4 is still in short supply in Europe, with Sony mourning lost sales as it scrabbles to meet demand.
Sony hasn't yet caught up with launch demand for the PS4 in Europe, SCE UK managing director Fergal Gara told TrustedReviews.
“We are still dealing with the day one market," he said.
Gara said Sony is "very close" to being in a "full supply situation", but admitted that it's not there yet.
The situation is best in the UK, Gara said, with other European territories like Germany selling out of all stock week to week.
While Gara believes the supply issue may have cost the company some sales, he noted that although there's no official update on sales figures the PS4 "is still selling, and selling very well". He hopes those who might have put their purchasing plans on hold as a result of the stock shortage will change their minds thanks to Sony's upcoming release sale.
“Anyone who may have said ‘forget about it, I will leave it for a while’, I think we have enough of a story now to say to them that they should reassess," the executive said.
In the US, the PS4 continues to outsell the Xbox One, but we haven't heard of any supply issues in North America since shortly after launch.
