PS4 Slim: watch the new PlayStation console boot up here [Update]
The PlayStation 4 Slim version we've been seeing images of is real, and there's video of the thing booting up.
Update: Eurogamer has since removed the video after receiving "legal advice." You can still see it the Slim in the gallery below, but not the console booting up.
Original story: In case you missed, pictures of the box and the actual unit of the PS4 Slim popped up online overnight. A lot of these images weren't very clear, but some were of very high quality, even going as far as taking side-by-side comparison shots with the original PS4.
That wasn't enough proof, however, since the kit may have just been 3D-printed somewhere (we've been down that road before). Since there was no footage available of the console actually being on and attached to a TV, a lot of people were sceptical.
Until now. In the video below, Eurogamer captured footage of the PS4 Slim at a reader's house. You can see it booting up, along with a few installed games.
Digital Foundry's Richard Leadbetter actually visited the person who claimed to have bought it on Gumtree, in an effort to confirm if it's real or not. It is very real, and they even play around a bit with the system OS.
Following yesterday's leak, sources have told the Wall Street Journal that the Slim version will be officially revealed alongside the Neo model at the PlayStation Meeting in September. The Slim, other sources suggest, will also be available for purchase later that month.
If Sony is indeed planning to announce and release the console in September, there's no saying if the company will alter its plans in response to the leak. Seeing as it's talked, officially, very little about the long rumoured Neo, we're not holding our breaths.
