The PlayStation Network now supports pre-loading on PS4

PS4 games can now be pre-loaded, so if you drop your cash down for a PSN pre-order, you can start playing as soon as the flag drops.

The feature is only supported by ten PS4 games so far; you can see the list below, courtesy of the PlayStation Blog. But as of May 10, all pre-orders on the PlayStation Store for PS3 and PS4 will support pre-loading.

The feature is switched on by default for these games, but auto-downloading of pre-orders can be switched off in the console's settings menu if you're minding your download quota, waiting for rollover day or whatever.

This is a perk that's been available on the PS3 for a while now, but it isn't very widely supported and has only just come to PS4. The PS4 version includes a countdown timer, and as some of these titles have very long wait times (at least two of them aren't expected till 2015!) you'll want to keep an eye on that.

Pre-loading is a cool feature, but there are several other missing PS4 features like mid-game sleep mode and remote assistance that we're still waiting for.

    PS4 games available for pre-loading:
  • Battlefield Hardline
  • Battlefield Hardline Deluxe Edition
  • Bloodborne
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
  • Destiny
  • Dragon Age: Inquisition
  • Dragon Age: Inquisition Deluxe Edition
  • Far Cry 4
  • inFAMOUS First Light
  • Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare
  • LittleBigPlanet 3
  • Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor
  • The Order: 1886
