PS4 dominates Media Create hardware and software charts
PlayStation 4 launched in Japan over the weekend, and according to figures posted by Media Create, the console moved 309,154 landing in the top slot on the hardware charts. There were also 10 titles for the system in the top 20, with Knack selling the most due to being included as part of the PS4 starter bundle. Full thing is below.
The second best-selling title was Yakuza: Ishin, which when PS3 and PS4 units are combined moved 220,698 units. Last week's number one, Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca’s Wonderful Mysterious Keys fell to a respectable third place considering the competition, and moved an additional 72,350 units on 3DS.
Other new titles for the week included: Kuroko no Basuke: Shouri e no Kiseki (3DS), and the PS4 titles Killzone: Shadow Fall, Battlefield 4, Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Tomb Raider, FIFA 14 and Need for Speed: Rivals.
On the hardware end, the only systems to show growth over the prior week were PSP - 3,171 (2,944) and PlayStation Vita TV – 1,383 (1,267).
Other systems were down slightly or quite a bit week-over-week.
PS4, according to Famitsu numbers, sold an estimated 322,083 units during its first two days on the market.
Media Create's 309,154 unit estimate is around 12,929 less than Famitsu.
