PS2 not powerful enough for Disgaea 3, says NIC

Speaking here, NIS's Jack Niida has explained that the decision to publish turn-based strategy title Disgaea 3 on PS3 was taken because PS2 couldn't handle the graphics.

"It's simply because PS2 lacks the processing power and memory capacity to support Disgaea 3," he said. "PS2 could not load the same amount of data on to memory and process it like the PS3; therefore, we decided to develop it for the next-gen platform... The character sprites for Disgaea 3 take three-four times the amount of labor to create compared to Disgaea 2."

Koei doesn't know if this is going to make it to Europe yet, but we're holding out for a positive outcome. Fingers crossed.
