Proteus PS and Vita includes unique seed options

Proteus's islands are randomly generated, but players of the PlayStation 3 and Vita versions will have the option to generate seeds based on fixed parameters.

According to a post from Ed key on the PlayStation Blog, the Vita version of Proteus includes the ability to generate an island based on your current geographical location - presumably pulled from the handheld's GPS function.

Both the PS3 and Vita versions will also allow an island to be generated based on the current date. In both instances, the seeds so generated have a chance to produce something a bit out of the ordinary.

"Both features have a chance of generating an especially 'wild' island with various tweaks and twists. The island at my house, for example, has weird purple sea, green sky in the evening and some pleasant (but still very purple) inland lakes," Key wrote.

The Vita version will also make use of the back touch panel, but the developer isn't ready to talk about this yet.

Proteus is an exploratory game which I enjoyed very much.
