PopCap to "look at" IPO in back-half 2011
Forbes reports that PopCap, a private company since inception in 2000, may float in the back half of 2011.
“We’ll look at [an IPO] for the second half of next year,” said Popcap head Dave Roberts.
He added that the company is structurally putting the team and pieces together that could allow it to go public soon, and may add up to 100 employees next year.
There doesn't appear to be any urgency to make the step, though: “There are no investors pushing for it, so we will really only look at it if the markets align.”
PopCap has a turnover of around $100 million.
PopCap has grown steadily in its decade-long lifespan, smoothly transitioning from a PC and Mac-centric developer to a mobile- and console-friendly studio encompassing a distribution network.
Products like the Bejeweled series, Plants vs Zombies, and Peggle are among PopCap's successes.
