Pokemon: Let's Go - here's over 40 minutes of gameplay and discussion direct from E3, including Brock's gym

Gameplay footage of Pokemon: Let's Go from E3 shows all the major changes coming to Nintendo's beloved series.

Nintendo has showcased the recently announced Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee/Pikachu at E3 today, showing off gameplay from some of the early sections of Kanto, including Viridian Forest and Pewter City.

There's 48 minutes to dig through here, but if you're on the fence about the next Pokemon game this might tip you either way. It shows off the capture mechanics - which are like a slightly more advanced take on Pokemon Go's capturing - as well as the combat, which looks very similar to what we're used to from the other portable RPGs.

Viridian Forest is absolutely full of bug types, as it should be.

If you don't want to watch the whole thing the folks at Serebii.net have pulled some great screens on Twitter, showing off Brock's Pewter City gym (which has the exact same layout it had in the original games), a Pokemon Center, and the new rival, Trace.

The video, unfortunately, does not actually show the battle with Brock - they cut to discussing the PokeBall Plus right after chatting with him - but we did get to see a rideable Onix, which is even better.

The Poke Ball Plus, which comes with Mew inside it, looks cool - there's a good weight to it, apparently, and the nub in the middle works as an analog stick. The video also showcases drop-in-drop-out co-op and single Joy-Con controls, which should make this iteration extremely accessible.

There's also a lot of (updated) Game Boy era sound effects and no voice acting. On some level, the game looks pretty simple. It'll be interesting to see if the full game has hidden depth to it.

Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee/Pikachu will both drop for Nintendo Switch on November 16.
