Pokémon Go's Chicago event was a complete cringe fest and we have the supercut to prove it
The Pokémon Go Fest in Chicago's Grant Park was a mess.
Pokémon Go Fest took place in Chicago over the weekend, and it did not go well. At all.
Constant connectivity and latency issues meant that players were unable to play the game, and watching the chipper hosts on stage discussing the pokémon they caught seemed to rile up the already frustrated crowd of players who were unable to play the game themselves.
The issues weren't just limited to the fest, with widespread reports of the same problems.
Niantic CMO Mike Quigley took to the stage during the event and promised attendees refunds for the $20 tickets and $100 in pokécoins. Niantic reconfirmed this on the Pokémon Go site along with instructions on how to get the refunds.
They also announced that all registered attendees would have the Legendary pokémon Lugia added to their account.
The event was livestreamed, so everything was caught on camera, and bobvids' supercut lets you experience the cringe firsthand. But be warned, it's truly awful.
People were booing, things were thrown, and the hosts chose to power through as if nothing was wrong, making it even more horrendous.
If you survived watching that without your eyeballs trying to burrow through you eye socket and into the recesses of your skull to escape the horror, congrats.
It wasn't all bad news. Legendary pokémon were scheduled to make their debut during the event, and Articuno is now live and available to catch in raids.
