You can vote on the next Pokemon Go Community Day Pokemon - here are the candidates

Niantic Labs wants Pokemon Go players to vote on the next Community Day Pokemon.

The next Pokemon Go Community Day will be held on February 22, and you can vote on the featured Pokemon.

How it will work is on voting day, Saturday, February 1, you will perform Research Tasks related to each of the candidates. The Field Research objective you’ll need to complete will be catching 20 Pokemon to earn 200 Stardust.

Every PokeStop that day will have a voting-related research task. If the PokeStop you spin does not have a task for the Pokemon you wish to vote for, just head to another PokeStop.

One research task completed equals one vote for the Pokemon listed for the completed task. You can do more than one voting research task, as each will count for a vote on the Pokemon listed.

The Field Research tasks will be available on the voting day from 12am to 11:59pm local time

Here are the Pokemon Go Community Day candidates:

  • Vulpix: Alolan Vulpix will be appearing in Field Research and Raid Battles. Evolve Vulpix or Alolan Vulpix into Ninetales or Alolan Ninetales for the Charged Attack Weather Ball. Ninetales will learn Fire-type Weather Ball, and Alolan Ninetales will learn Ice-type Weather Ball—attacks previously exclusive to Castform. Shiny Vulpix as originally discovered in the Kanto region will become available for the first time.
  • Machop: Evolve Machop into Machamp for the exclusive attack Payback. This Dark-type Charged Attack will give Machamp good coverage to deal with Psychic- and Ghost-type Pokemon that might otherwise give it trouble.
  • Rhyhorn: Evolve Rhyhorn into Rhyperior for the exclusive attack Rock Wrecker. Known to be Rhyperior’s signature move, this Rock-type Charged Attack will be a powerful addition to Rhyperior’s repertoire. Shiny Rhyhorn will also become available to encounter for the first time.
  • Dratini: Evolve Dratini into Dragonite for the Charged Attack Superpower. This powerful Fighting-type attack is a recent addition and could be a strategic option for Dragonite. For example, it could help Dragonite against Ice- and Rock-type Pokemon that would normally have an advantage over it. Superpower could also help Dragonite deal with Steel-type Pokemon that are weak to Fighting-type attacks.

Winners will be announced on Monday, February 3 two days after voting day closes.

The February Community Day will be held on Saturday the 22nd and the featured bonus will be 3× Catch Stardust. It will take place in the northern hemisphere 11am-2pm local and in the southern hemisphere from 3pm- 6pm local.

In the meantime, the Lunar New Year event can be enjoyed starting this Friday. The spotlight will be on red Pokemon, and a Limited Research event featuring Minccino will also go live during the event on February 2.

The Lunar New Year event ends on February 3.
