Pokemon Go Abra Community Day announced by Niantic
Niantic recently announced a Pokemon Go Abra Community Day, during which players will have the opportunity to catch shiny variants of the Abra family.
The Pokemon Go Abra Community Day was officially announced via a blog post on the Pokemon website. "Catch a lot of Abra during this month’s Community Day event, and get Alakazam that know an exclusive attack," is the sub-header.
The Abra Community Day is due to take place on Sunday, March 15, 2020. As usual, it will last for three hours, and will run from 11am until 2pm in the northern hemisphere, and from 3pm until 6pm in the southern hemisphere. All the info is also contained in the Reddit post below.
As noted by Redditor ShadowMoses05 in the comments, traded Abra only costs 25 Abra candy to evolve at the moment, so this is a perfect Community Day for those planning to head out with friends. Meanwhile, Reddit user sml6174 notes that Niantic moved Rhyhorn closer during its Community Day, which could mean Abra's flee rate could be temporarily lowered in order to make it easier to catch.
If you're after a shiny Abra, you'll have to make sure you're on your A game. Although shiny Alakazam is easily distinguishable from the regular variant, both Abra and Kadabra's shiny forms are remarkably similar to their normal ones. You can see a chart highlighting the differences below.
It's also worth noting that evolving a Kadabra into Alakazam during the event or up to two hours after will allow your Alakazam to learn an exclusive move, making it a particularly valuable Legacy Pokemon (a Pokemon who knows a move that it can only temporarily learn during limited-time events).
As usual, Lures used during Community Day hours will last for a total of three whole hours, and catch XP will be tripled for as long as the event is on.
There's also one new feature on offer during the Abra Community Day. For $1, you can gain access to a unique Special Research quest called Investigating Illusions. Those who complete the quest will earn 13,000 Stardust, a Poffin, a Rocket Radar, and more.
The Pokemon Go Abra Community Day is due to kick off on March 15, 2020. In other Pokemon Go news, fans have recently discovered that Ho-Oh and a range of other official Pokemon names were censored by Niantic. Also, a Pokemon Go raid day was canceled due to data from World War 2.
