PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds: watch gameplay of the new AUG A3 and DP-28
It may be a while before most players get a chance to test out the new AUG A3, and the DP-28 for themselves in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, but watching gameplay is the next best thing.
Yesterday, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds' version 1.0 went live for a second time on test servers. On top of the the ballistic overhaul, new killcam and improvements to vaulting, the update also added two new weapons.
The AUG A3, a crate-only weapon, is the one you probably want to see the most, given how rare it is. It's also the most interesting, since we're not sure yet if it's being added for variety or if PUBG Corp is hoping to create a new role with it. The AUG A3 appears to be a really good 5.56mm weapon, but it's slower than the Groza.
We spotted a couple of gameplay videos of the assault rifle earlier. Interestingly, unlike certain other assault rifles, you can attach a high-powered scope to it. In fact, the 8x scope seems to be the current favourite as it complements the damage output. Here's Him vs Her's video using 4x and a red dot.
The next video from ThesaurusPG really demonstrates how deadly the A3 can be with an 8x scope. It's very accurate, and shows that it works much better with that scope than the Groza did.
And here's one from Madnuss firing an unsuppressed A3, also using the 8x scope. There's a bit of close-quarters action with the RDS near the end, too.
As for the DP-28, it doesn't appear to spawn as often as you'd think, at least compared to more desirable weapons like the Kar 98. Seems to be as common as the Tommy Gun or a bit less. The pan magazine definitely obstructs part of your vision when you aim down sights.
The weapon looks big, though, and people around you will immediately spot it. You can attach an 8x scope to it, though I am not sure why you would given that it's an LMG, and that it kicks pretty hard. Here's basic testing from Sanex.
This video from Brycius really shows off how high the recoil is in regular gameplay. It looks hard to control, so forget landing lucky first shots with it.
PUBG Corp has not said when we can expect these weapons to hit live servers, but we're guessing it'll happen when the game leaves Steam Early Access in December.
