PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds servers are down following connection issues [EDIT]

The PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds patch released earlier this morning seems to have kicked up a storm of instability and other problems.

Edit: the issue has been resolved and things are back up and running. Go shoot some people.

The original story follows.

Original Story

After first going live with a pretty severe aiming bug, developer Bluehole quickly released a hotfix that seems to have taken care of it.

Shortly after, players reported connection problems. Though these are a weekly occurrence in the world of PUBG, today's outage caused the developer to "block server authentication" temporarily in order to fix them.

This seemingly didn't work, so the solution was to take all servers down, and they've been offline for a few minutes. This outage should last for an hour, according to the game's official Twitter.

When servers come back online, their processing capacity will be increased.

It's not clear if this means better server performance all around, or just an increase to the log-in capacity. We'll find out in less than an hour, no doubt.

This comes two short days after Bluehole revealed its plans for a crate-and-key skins system similar to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's, upsetting many in the community overnight.

Though it's no doubt nothing more than bad luck that all of these issues cropped up one after another, it got players to call out developers for prioritising monetisation when more serious problems are in need of fixing.
