PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is finally making the blue zone deadlier in new patch
Although PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds developer Bluehole recently said that the game won't be getting any more live patches until the end of the year, the developer has found time to push one more change.
Unlike last week's update, this one brings a significant change to Battlegrounds. Perhaps that's why developers released it earlier than usual on test servers, hoping to do as much testing as possible.
The update, released earlier this morning on test servers, increases the blue zone's damage over time. Anyone who plays the game will know how drastic this is, and it's one change that players have been requesting for a while, too. The idea is to combat the tactic of staying in the blue for as long as possible and run into safety at the last possible minute.
"From this new update, you will be able to focus more on the immediate, close-ranged skirmishes inside the play zone, instead of dealing with enemies outside of the play zone during the mid to late phases of the game," the developer wrote.
As you can imagine, this needed a lot of time for testing, seeing as it's probably going to be controversial. That said, Bluehole didn't divulge how big the increase is, so we'll have to rely on the community to figure it out. Find the patch notes for week 31 update below:
Gameplay
- Increased the blue zone DOT (Damage over Time)
Bug fixes
- Resolved a bug where bullets would sometimes ignore armour
Bluehole also did not indicate when the patch is going to hit live servers, but weekly patches typically release at the end of the week, unless a major bug prevents that.
