PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has sold over 10 million units since hitting Steam Early Access in March

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is a very, very popular game.

So popular, that PUBG has sold over 10 million units since it hit Steam Early Access on March 23.

Not only has it sold 10 million copies, PUBG also set a new mark for peak concurrent users of over 970,000, thanks in part to strong reception received during the PUBG Invitational at gamescom 2017 in August.

According to Bluehole, across nine streaming platforms during the invitational, peak online viewership on Twitch official channels hit 536,000 on first day to watch competition in PUBG's solo mode. Over on PandaTV, peak online viewership hit 5.6 million on the same day.

There were 92 players from 19 different countries globally competed in the different PUBG game modes: solo, duo, duo first-person perspective and squad during the invitational.

If you have yet to try PUBG, or happen to be unfamiliar with it due to living in a cave someplace, it's a last-man-standing shooter where players are dropped on an island with literally nothing.

Here, player will need to fight to locate weapons, vehicles and supplies as they try to become a lone survivor. Good luck with that, seriously.

PUBG is currently available through Steam Early Access and is launching exclusively on Xbox One as part of the Xbox Game Preview program in late 2017.

The final version will release in early 2018 on Xbox One and Xbox One X.
