Playcast cloud gaming service to launch in the US
Playcast, a television channel-based cloud gaming service for set-top boxes, tablets, smartphones and PCs, will launch early next year in the United States.
According to MCVUK, the company is in talks with several television providers as well as game publishers such as Activision, THQ, Warner Bros. and Telltale Games.
The Israel-based company offers subscriptions packages for unlimited streaming of games and is currently live in France, Portugal and South Korea. Packages are tailored to users, such as casual and hardcore options.
In 2009 Playcast was in competition to launch ahead of its competitors OnLive and GaiKai and promised “Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 quality games” using only a cable provider or Telco set-top box.
