Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare will launch without microtransactions

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare will launch without microtransactions, according to PopCap Games producer Brian Lindley.

Speaking with Gamespot at a press event, Lindley said instead, the developer will have a look at in-game metrics and consult player feedback to determine the next step.

Lindley also touched upon the game's native resolution.

"The Xbox One outputs in 1080p. I will say we're not running at the same resolution as Battlefield," he said. Battlefield 4 runs at 720p on Xbox One, and it was previously stated that PvZ: GW runs at 60fps on the console.

For further clarification on the matter, Gamespot contacted a PopCap representative.

"On next-gen consoles, players can experience all EA games at 1080p, " said the rep. "Some are rendered natively, others are up-scaled by the next-gen hardware systems. Either way, the visuals are stunning and the gameplay is impeccable, regardless of platform."

Garden Warfare will be released on PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One and there are no plans at present, according to Lindley, to bring the game to PlayStation consoles.

"We have nothing to announce at this point, but I always caveat that with the comment that we want to get this game in the hands of as many people as possible," he said.
