Planetside Arena hits Steam Early Access

Planetside Arena has officially launched in Steam Early Access.

Following a couple of delays, Planetside Arena has now finally arrived. The free-to-play shooter is now live on Steam, kicking off its Early Access period.

At launch, Planetside Arena includes two modes that support up to 300 players each on a 64 sq km map. Squads allows for 12 players per unit, and Teams scale that down to just three. All modes are inspired by battle royale shooters, but also offer Planetside's brand of combined arms combat.

Much of what's there should be familiar to Planetside 2 players. Arena also launches with three classes: Assault, Engineer and Medic, with more to be added throughout Early Access.

The game is free-to-play, but you can support the team by buying the Recruit ($20) or Legendary ($50) editions, each offering unique cosmetics and an assortment of in-game crates.

If you're interested, Daybreak recently published a development roadmap for the next few months. Planetside Arena is also coming to PS4 and Xbox One in 2020.
