Pack your bags EU SOE MMO players, you're moving out of ProSiebenSat.1
PlanetSide 2, DC Universe Online and EverQuest 2 players in Europe will have to pack their bags and switch to a SOE Station Account come July 1, as Sony Online Entertainment is dropping ProSiebenSat.1 Games in the region.
The move comes as no surprise considering SOE's move to an All Access plan, which was announced back in January.
At the time, it wasn't clear whether a PSG account would still be a requirement for European players at the time, but now, those who play PlanetSide 2, DC Universe Online and EverQuest 2 in the region will need to migrate over to an SOE Account by September 28.
As of today, June 18, region locks have also been lifted and new EU players who register with SOE will do so on hosted sites.
All payment details and personal information will not be transferred: only the ProSiebenSat.1 Games account name, character information, Game Cash balance, and other game-related data will be provided from PSG to SOE. Players will need to have an existing SOE Station Account or create a new SOE account in order to continue playing the games through SOE’s service.
You will also be required to enter your payment details if you wish to make purchases through your SOE account.
In 2012, SOE MMO players in Europe voiced concern over a deal with ProSiebenSat.1 Games, as they were worried it would segregate the US and European player base.
Games which made use of ProSiebenSat.1 were Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, Magic: The Gathering – Tactics, Pox Nora, DC Universe Online, EverQuest II, Free Realms, PlanetSide 2, and EverQuest Next.
Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures and Free Realms were shut down earlier this year on March 31. Magic: The Gathering – Tactics was shut down on March 28 and on March 6, Pox Nora had been transferred over to Desert Owl Games.
