Pixeljunk Eden Steam life-to-date income doubled during sale
Pixeljunk Eden went on sale for 99¢ during the Steam 2013 Holiday Sale, and despite this low price tag it managed to sell strongly enough to match its previous lifetime income.
Designer Dylan Cuthbert said the game sold "phenomenally well" on Twitter.
"We just made our income to date, again, in just eight hours, it was a huge success," he added.
In a later clarification, Cuthbert confirmed this comment applies to the Steam version of PixelJunk Eden.
Cuthbert's tweet has been widely and amusingly misinterpreted as meaning the developer's entire income up to the sale was doubled in eight hours, which rather undervalues the success of the popular PixelJunk franchise as a whole.
If you're interested in checking out the Japanese indie's range, Pixeljunk Shooter and Monsters are also available on Steam, and unlike Eden, are also playable on Linux and Mac. All three are on sale at time of writing. The full series, which also includes Sidescroller, Racers, Shooter 2 and 4AM, is available on the PlayStation Network, and the next entry is a sim called PixelJunk Inc coming to PC first.
Thanks, Joystiq.
