VG247 @ PAX West: here's everything we're doing this weekend
Your favourite video game website - no, not that one - is going to be at PAX West this weekend.
We'll be hosting a panel, knocking around on another, and having an informal drinks gathering if you'd like to come along and join us.
PAX West kicks off on Friday, and we'll be hosting a panel at 3pm in the Sandworm Theatre. VG247 Presents... 500 Million and Counting: What Makes the PlayStation So Special will be a celebration of a console that has sold well over 500 million hardware units over four generations and almost 25 years.
Joined by a handful of special guests, we'll chat s**t about the hardware and its games, what it means to us personally and professionally, what its like working with Sony from a development perspective, and we'll even try to clumsily rank some of the best games ever made. Expect plenty of Def Jam Fight for N.Y. chat and a little bit of Tenchu.
On Sunday at 5pm our Editor in Chief Matt Martin (that's me!) will be joining a panel on The Rapidly Changing World of Games Journalism. I know, right! Imagine. Anyway, that panel is hosted by our friends at US Gamer but we'll be hanging around like a bad smell, spouting nonsense about how freaking great we are, why we never confuse Dante with Nero, and how we've managed to cling on to life for the past ten years.
On Sunday at 2pm we'll be having a joint informal drinks gathering at Gordon Biersch with the US Gamer and Eurogamer massive. You're all welcome to come along and buy us a pint, and if you're from Seattle give us some hot tops on nice spots to eat.
There's a couple of other panels that we reckon are worth checking out, and they go a little something like this: Mike Pondsmith in Conversation, a History of Cyberpunk hosted by Eurogamer's video pirate-a-like Johnny Chiodini should be a Chio-doozy, and US Gamer is going to be sitting down to play Mass Effect: One of the Best RPGs Ever Made.
We'd also recommend this panel on the history of heavy metal and D&D because it's clearly going to rock you like a hurricane as your boy Klaus Meine once sang.
There's also a panel with the Devil May Cry 5 gang, and Bioware's Anthem team will talk about storytelling in their upcoming sci-fi loot shooter. You can check out the full schedule for all four days of PAX West here.
We'll also be grabbing some time with new games and reporting on the big news stories, as well as embedding hot streaming action from a selection of the panels if you're not able to make the show in person.
So if you're in Seattle, attending PAX and looking for some hot garbage from professional losers at VG247, come say hi.
