PAX Australia to be held in Melbourne - rumour

PAX Australia - should it come to Sydney, the largest city? Or Brisbane, the traditional games industry hotspot? The latest on dit has it down for Melbourne, which is - well, it's certainly a place.

Kotaku Australia has hold of a what it believes is a genuine sales document pitching booths to potential exhibitors, which lists Melbourne as the host city.

No announcement has been made through official channels.

Meanwhile, speaking to Polygon, Penny Arcade business lead Robert Khoo said PAX Aus is expected to be very similar to the current PAX Prime in Seattle and PAX East in Boston.

"Content-wise, it'll be identical. We have a really good base formula for what makes a PAX, but size-wise, we really won't know until we launch. We can (and have) scaled a PAX experience to anywhere from 3,500 people to tens of thousands, so no matter what, we'll make it work," he said.

Khoo said it was Australian gamers who drove the decision rather than the Penny Arcade team, noting that local gamers are "crazy" passionate about gaming.

"We realized how many hardcore gamers actually lived there, and over time all the pieces slowly came together," he said.

Feel free to vent your feelings on various Australian cities in the comments thread. Why not make it into a drinking game*? Shot every time someone says "hipster".

*Because you'd die.
