Paradox pleased with success of its NYC event, next stop GDC 2011
Paradox Interactive's 2011 Convention in New York City has concluded, and the firm said the annual event was a "massive success."
The publisher made a variety of announcements last week, including the reveal of several new games in development:
- Defenders of Ardania – A new tower defense game set in the world of Majesty. The game will be available on PC and iPad and is being designed with the intent of launching on consoles as well.
- Pirates of Black Cove- RTS with action-RPG elements. Cruise the Caribbean, loot settlements and see if you can become the best pirate on the high seas.
- Naval War Arctic Circle – A naval-based strategy title set in the modern day. There will be two single player campaigns (NATO and Russia) with real world units and weapons, a realistic weather system and multiplayer support for both online and LAN battles.
- Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword – New Mount & Blade installment set in 1653. It will include enhanced siege mechanics, muskets, matchlock pistols and a new multiplayer mode.
- Hearts of Iron III: For the Motherland: New expansion will include a deeper political system, coups and much more.
In addition to the new titles, Paradox showcased previously unreleased details for: King Arthur II, Cities in Motion, Crusader Kings II, Magna Mundi, Pride of Nations, Supreme Ruler: Cold War, Sword of the Stars II, and Magicka, which was released today on Steam.
"Without a doubt, this was our most successful event to date," said paradox CEO Fredrik Wester. "The general reaction to our previously known projects in development and our newly announced titles has exceeded our expectations. I can't thank those who made the trek to New York enough. It was great having so many join the Paradox family for the week. "
The Paradox Convention is held annually in January, and the next major event on Paradox's agenda is GDC 2011 in San Francisco, which takes place March 2-4.
