You need to buy the Miracle Orb in Paper Mario The Origami King to unlock the shell stone door found later on in the game. You will need to purchase it one way or another, so follow the steps below to make sure you get it for as cheap as possible.

Given that the Miracle Orb is being offered as part of an auction, you can actually lower the asking price somewhat. You won't have all that many coins to play with at this point in the game so just keep turning the deal down until you get to 300 coins.
