Pachter expects 30 percent year-on-year drop in August NPDs
Ahead of the NPD's August sales data release this week, Wedbush Securities' Michael Pachter has predicted a gloomy result.
IndustryGamers reports Pachter forecasts a 30 percent year on year decrease in software sales, down to $284 million, thanks to a dry release schedule, with August unlikely to benefit much from Deus Ex: Human Revolution sneaking in just before the end of the month.
But it's Madden NFL 12 which Wedbush bases its gloomy prediction on; the game released three weeks later than usual thanks to player strikes.
Wedbush puts monthly Xbox 360 sales at 275,000 units and the PS3 at 240,000.
The DS is next in line with 235,000, followed by the Wii, slated for 175,000, and the 3DS trailing at 135,000.
That's a six percent increase for the PS3 on last month, with the console enjoying record sales this year, but a year-on-year drop for everyone else. The Xbox 360 and Wii are expected to drop 28 percent each, and the DS down 31 percent.
Thanks, GoNintendo.
