Overwatch: your time playing Competitive Lucioball won't be wasted, because you'll be earning CP

With the launch of the Overwatch Summer Games approaching, many are looking forward to Lucioball, in both its ranked and unranked variations.

That's because this year, Blizzard is creating a Lucioball playlist specifically for Competitive Play.

Lucioball, just like other time-limited events, is less serious by nature compared to the main game, but there's a reason to play for keeps this year. Which begs the question, would we earn any points in the Competitive version?

According to Blizzard, the answer is yes! Overwatch's official Twitter was asked about this earlier. We now have confirmation that you will earn Competitive Points (CP) playing this mode.

However, you will receive a smaller amount of points because the matches are shorter, which seems fair.

Lucioball is part of the game's Summer Games event, the 2017 version of the same even debuted last year. Lucioball is not the only thing returning, either, last year's skins will also come back for reduced prices. In addition, there's a host of new skins this year.

Summer Games kick off August 9.
