Overwatch should get a "minor" balance patch sometime this week
Balancing for Overwatch heroes McCree and Widowmaker are currently in testing, and you can expect the changes to be applied soon.
Overwatch should get a "minor" balance patch sometime this week
This is according to game director Jeff Kaplan responding to comments on the Overwatch forums.
He also touched up the reason Blizzard is just now looking into additional content such as Competitive Play mode and character balance.
"We haven't patched content or balance because we are trying to have a stable launch window, with as few variables as possible," said Kaplan. "With that said, new content, Competitive Play mode, is coming at the end of June.
"We should also have a minor balance patch (hopefully) this week. We want to be careful to not overly disrupt the game balance too frequently."
Kaplan didn't say whether this balance patch would include the changes to McCree or Widowmaker, but such a change wouldn't be considered a minor balance, we don't think. We could be way off on that.
Now that the launch window has passed, players can expect regular content patches, balance patches and minor bug fixes, but balance won't change every week because that "would not be healthy for the game."
Blizzard plans to "lower the frustration threshold” of Widowmaker, and changes to McCree’s Fan the Hammer move.
The studio is also looking to buff D.Va at some point soon.
